Luke Baker, from Houston, TX, currently holds a position in The Orchestra Now. Luke received his Master of Music from the Yale School of Music and his Bachelor of Music from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU. His previous teachers include William Purvis, Greg Hustis, Haley Hoops, Gavin Reed, and Holley Linder. Luke has performed as guest principal horn with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Annapolis Symphony Orchestra. His other orchestral appearances include the Allentown Symphony Orchestra, the New World Symphony, the Yale Philharmonia, the National Repertory Orchestra the Music Academy of the West Orchestra, Round Top Festival Orchestra, Texas Music Festival Orchestra, Houston Youth Symphony, Virtuosi of Houston, and American Festival for the Arts Orchestra. Luke was named the winner of the 2017 International Horn Competition of America University division, the 2014 Meadows undergraduate concerto competition. He was also named a Finalist in the 2018 International Horn Symposium Premiere Solo Competition and runner-up in the 2011 American Festival for the Arts Young Artist Competition. While Luke enjoys playing in large orchestras, he has a passion for solo performance and chamber music. While Luke is not playing the Horn, he enjoys skiing, rock-climbing, and social dancing.
