Luke Baker
Horn Player
Luke Baker is a hard working Horn player dedicated to the highest standard of musical excellence regardless of the the size and prestige of the repertoire, venue or audience.
Luke Baker, is currently a graduate student at the Yale school of music under the tutelage of William Purvis. Luke received his Bachelor of Music from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU. His previous teachers include Greg Hustis, Haley Hoops, Gavin Reed, Felipe Vera and Holley Linder. Luke has previously been a member of the Yale Philharmonia, National Repertory Orchestra, the Music Academy of the West Orchestra, SMU Symphony Orchestra, Round Top Festival Orchestra, Texas Music Festival Orchestra, Houston Youth Symphony, Virtuosi of Houston, and American Festival for the Arts Orchestra. Luke was named the winner of the 2014 Meadows undergraduate concerto competition and runner-up in the 2011 American Festival for the arts Young Artist Competition. While Luke enjoys playing in large orchestras, he has a passion for solo performance, chamber music and moving people on an emotional level with music. While Luke is not playing the Horn at Yale, he enjoys racquetball, rock-climbing, and social dancing.
